{"id":1665,"date":"2013-08-21T05:34:43","date_gmt":"2013-08-21T03:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sonofcarey.wordpress.com\/?p=1665"},"modified":"2013-08-21T05:34:43","modified_gmt":"2013-08-21T03:34:43","slug":"questions-to-ask-an-old-earth-christian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sonofcarey.com\/?p=1665","title":{"rendered":"Questions to Ask an Old Earth Christian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height:1.5;\">Not only would I like to hear their answers to these questions, I\u2019d like to hear their best dozen or so questions fired back at our side.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Do you believe the earth is millions or billions of years old?<\/li>\n<li>Do you believe the Genesis Flood was a localized or earth-wide catastrophe?<\/li>\n<li>Do you believe God used evolution in any way during His creative process?<\/li>\n<li>If God had wanted to communicate that He did not use evolution in any way, what kinds of language could He have used that would have fit with the context and genre of Genesis 1-2?<\/li>\n<li>If there were no theory of evolution would there be any reason for believing the earth is millions or billions of years old?<\/li>\n<li>When Paul says, \u201cthe whole creation groans and travails together\u201d waiting for redemption and freedom, isn\u2019t that speaking about freedom from sin\u2019s effect on creation? But if sin brought creation into a terrible condition, then how could there have been animal death, destruction, and disease in Genesis 1 before sin in Genesis 3?<\/li>\n<li>How could God create a world that is designed from the beginning to be carnivorous, dangerous, and riddled with disease and yet call it \u201cvery good\u201d in Gen. 1:31?<\/li>\n<li>Why would God create a world with animals evolving over time, but then not use that same mechanism for men?<\/li>\n<li>Were <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ccel.org\/ccel\/calvin\/calcom01.vii.i.html\">Calvin<\/a>, Luther, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewordtoday.com\/comments\/genesis\/wesley\/genesis1.htm\">Wesley<\/a> exegetically foolish, inconsistent, or lazy when they interpreted Genesis 1 as literal days?<\/li>\n<li>When the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reformed.org\/documents\/wcf_with_proofs\/\">Westminster<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vor.org\/truth\/1689\/1689bc04.html\">Baptist<\/a> Confessions say \u201cin the space of six days, and all very good\u201d did those original authors mean 24 hour days? Is there any evidence to think they would interpret the days as geologic ages? Assuming they actually were young earthers, were they Biblically inept?<\/li>\n<li>How do you know that you are not holding to an old earth position because it is academically and culturally popular today?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Not only would I like to hear their answers to these questions, I\u2019d like to hear their best dozen or so questions fired back at our side.
